Komal recently embarked on a significant journey in his Sikh faith by participating in the Amrit Chhanna or 'drinking the nectar' ceremony yesterday afternoon. According to his grandmother, by taking this step, he follows in the footsteps of generations past and is now on the path to becoming Amritdhari (baptized Sikh). “Members who take Amrit are bound by a common set of principles and wear the five Ks: Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (comb), Kachera (shorts), Kara (steel bracelet), and Kirpan (small sword).” He also loves watching movies in theatres and playing soccer. Nicole graduated from SAIT in 2006 with a degree in Paramedics and now works 48-hour shifts driving an ambulance in Macleod, Calgary. She bought her 20-acre farm and tractor two years ago and manages it mostly on her own. Located near Bragg Creek, her farm is home to goats, pigs, chickens, cows, and horses, all rescued from dire situations. Nicole’s horses were once starving and destined for the food and leather industries. Proudly calling herself a "bleeding heart," she has even delivered goat babies by following YouTube tutorials.
